In conjunction with the Barnsley Kes Society, we are proud to announce a very special screening of the locally shot and well – loved film; KES.
This will be screened from a recently discovered original 35mm film print from 1969 and will feature an introduction by the film’s star – David (Dai) Bradley. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Dai and a meet and greet session. There will also be plenty of Kes memorabilia on display before and after the screening.
Directed by Ken Loach, Kes is based on the book “A Kestrel for a Knave”, written by local author; Barry Hines. The film follows the story of Billy, who comes from a dysfunctional working-class family and is a no-hoper at school, but discovers his own private means of fulfilment when he adopts a fledgling kestrel and proceeds to train it in the art of falconry.
Please note: Doors open at the stated event time, the first hour being entry and memorabilia viewing, then after a short introduction, the main feature, followed by a Q&A and meet and greet with David 'Dai' Bradley.
