Join us, on Saturday 4th October, for the exclusive book launch of 'Ken Loach And Kes', edited by Ronnie Steele, with each guest receiving a complimentary copy as a keepsake(retail price: £11.95), followed by a free book signing session, and a screening of 'Kes'.
Acclaimed 'Kes' director, Ken Loach, has kindly recorded a introductory speech, which will begin the proceedings, and actors who appeared in the 1969 film will each read their own stories.
Between the readings, a few of the film’s most popular short clips (e.g. the football scene) will be shown, there will be live intrumental music by local professional musicians, and then a free book signing session by the authors, followed by a screening of the full 'Kes' feature.
Doors open at 2pm, and the event begins at 2.30pm.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a non profit-making venture, and any surplus money will be donated to a good cause, nominated by Ken Loach.
The book is a stunning testament to the enduring love that millions still have for Ken Loach and Kes and includes a foreword by David Dai Bradley, plus tributes from pop icon Fran Healey (of Travis), playwright: John Godber, sculptor: Graham Ibbeson, Parkway owner: Rob Younger, and many others.
Some stories are heartbreaking and some are hilarious.
Milly Johnson describes the book as: “An insightful, entertaining and affectionate homage to a man who is both a giant in the film industry and a humble, genuine man of the people. A terrific read.”
