THE ARTIST (PG)

Jean Dujardin, Bérénice Bejo, John Goodman

George Valentin is a world-famous silent movie superstar. However, his illustrious career looks set to come to an abrupt end when talking pictures arrive, changing the face of cinema forever. At the same, Peppy Miller, a struggling young dancer, is catapulted into stardom thanks to her natural ability for the new medium. Filmed entirely in black and white, without dialogue, ‘The Artist’ tells the story of what happens when they meet and share their dreams and ambitions. Featuring spectacular performances from the leads, which have earned the film 3 Golden Globe awards, 7 BAFTAs including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor and 10 Oscar nominations, the Director and cast take a look back in both style and story to produce a modern day classic.

And showing in the upper screen:

THE WOMAN IN BLACK (12A)

Daniel Radcliffe, Janet McTeer, Ciarán Hinds

Daniel Radcliffe stars in a spine-chilling adaptation of the classic period ghost story. When young lawyer Arthur Kipps is tasked with settling the legal affairs of a recently deceased woman, it leads him to a remote English village terrorised by a spectre known as ‘The Woman in Black’, whose appearance heralds a child’s death. Discovering she is the ghost of a local woman who tragically lost her son, he attempts to help the spirit find peaceful rest. Instead, she turns her evil attentions towards his own young child. Adapted by top British screenwriter Jane Goldman from Susan Hill's timeless ghost story (also a long-running London stage play), this eerie tale from 'Eden Lake' director James Watkins marks Daniel Radcliffe's eagerly anticipated first lead role since Harry Potter.
